Your MLM success strategy as a network marketer you believe is to recruit people over the phone and in person. Like a military operation you seek isolate and recruit. How would your prospect describe you as a marketer would he feel you are trying to help him or just sell him? Do you know how to avoid sounding like you’re trying to sell?
Your Prospect’s Perspective
You finally decided to put your contact info into an opportunity form. You did it Monday evening after work and since then, you have had calls every day and even several each evening. When that first marketer called and interviewed you, you were quite nervous and apprehensive because you really did not know what you’re getting yourself into. The first person that called you seemed nervous and he asked tons of questions many of which you thought were really none of his business. It seemed like he was reading something off a piece of paper because he was really jerky when he spoke.
By about the fourth time you went through this same interview process you were beginning to become frustrated because each person that called was a bit pushy and they all have the same questions. As you are sitting in your chair you lean back and reflect and smile thinking about how you got angry with the one caller because they were so preoccupied with pushing you into a deal that you hung up on him. You knew that you needed to make an extra couple thousand dollars a month but you really had no idea what it was you wanted to do or sell for that matter.
Your Prospect’s Concerns
The whole idea of getting on the phone and calling every person that you know to solicit them into your business or get them to buy one of your products or services, whatever they might be, ran chills down your spine. The prospect of having to monetize your friends was the last thing that you want to do. The last marketer that called seemed to have a great product that you felt you could get behind emotionally. But how could you go forward with that business when you didn’t know the first thing about marketing.
After sitting and thinking about getting involved in the business you didn’t know the first thing about how to market it you decided what you would do, is just think about it some more. After all this was a big decision and would require lots of commitment, so that I will just have to wait a few weeks until you decide what you want to do.
Do You Both Share A Similar Objective?
For many people looking at getting involved in a home based business is a very frightening event. They’ve heard tons of horror stories and are afraid that they may get taken in on some money scheme. This person though fictional was inundated by marketers trying to sell their business opportunity as being the best one to get involved. What they failed to do, was to build a relationship of trust with this person. The MLM success strategy these marketers had failed because they had focused their attention on their business and not on this prospect and his problem that required a solution.
If the marketer is looking for a sale or conquest or notch on his recruiting belt it is quite likely that the prospect will feel that over the phone. The prospect is looking for a business but more importantly looking for a solution to his problem. The prospect needs to feel that the marketer is looking for a business partner and will be committed to helping them succeed in effect they need to feel important and not just a number.
Be A Professional Consultant
So when you go to make your calls each day whether in person or over the phone it is important to convey to your prospect that you care about them and helping them solve their problem. When you both share the same perspective you have a higher probability of recruiting your prospect. This is not to say that you sound like a yes person or an overzealous problem solver but rather that you come across as a professional consultant. Interview the prospect with an empathetic or understanding posture. Don’t interrupt your prospect is talking and devote most of your time to listening to your prospect answer your questions.
Your MLM Success Strategy Summary
Listen –> Clarify –> Summarize Problem –>Present Solution –> Summarize Solution –> Call to Action
Note: Presenting a Solution (Brief Audio Recording or Video On Your Business With A Follow Up)
By listening to the prospect they will tell you what you need to know to sell them. When you understand what is motivating your prospect it is much easier to address their concerns and to move forward in the recruiting process. The people you call are looking for a leader someone that can help them solve their problem. Summarize and repeat back their problem as you understood it to be. Present a Solution and then Summarize how your solution will help them with their problem and how you will work with them as their business partner. Then conclude by asking “Do you want that?”
