Your MLM team building efforts will ultimately draw to you people with a myriad of skills from a vast array of vocations. Some will be from marketing and some from the arts, science, theology, sports and so on. Your task is to get everybody focused to do 2 things 1.) Recruit New Consultants and Gather Customers and 2.) Train People to Recruit and Gather Customers. These are the two activities that get us paid the money. The first one is obvious because when you sign someone up and help him gather his first few customers you get paid and the second one is by leveraging yourself through the efforts (or future efforts) of those in your team.



I recall when I first got into marketing I was excited because I had a lot of Desktop Publishing background and I loved making brochures and business cards. Looking back at this huge creative time vampire as great as my work looked they had a home-made feel to them. Too much ink, ink smears, pages not quite center, fold not where it was suppose to be but I was proud because I did them and I saved money in the process……. So I thought.



I now realize that marketing and desktop publishing are two distinct vocations. I love marketing and I still love being creative but it is my marketing that I make my money at. Had I chose going into the Printing business this article would have read differently, but I chose marketing. I wanted to do Net Work Marketing. If you want success, then you must do what successful people do. Leave the non-income producing activities to others. Outsource these time vacuums to those people skilled at them and use your time to learn the science of applied marketing.



I have to confess that even 10 years later I find myself drifting toward creating fancy graphic loaded email that even the most lenient spam software would stop dead. Sometimes (and perhaps more often than I care to admit) I use it as an excuse not to do the two things that most need to be done. The consequence for not doing the two MLM team build activities is stagnation. I recommend to all those folks that feel they can put a better spin on something your company uses to market their services/products to ask themselves this question: “Is it necessary for me to MLM team building my way or can I use the existing tools and systems to create the same level of success the top income earners are getting – BE HONEST!



There may be times when you must break ground and do things yourself but I would urge you to follow your leader for the first couple years in your MLM business. Your Leader is successful and having success is never an accident so the time you spend getting coached and following their direction is like GOLD in your pocket. You may not feel comfortable in the beginning doing things the way your Coach/Leader does but do it anyway. Keep doing it, and doing it, and doing it, and doing it!





Success is in Marketing is no different than in any other endeavour. It takes time and education to become professional. Everyone needs a coach and a marketing system. Of course all MLM companies have their own product training and orientation to their compensation plan, however; calling friends and family is not marketing and at some point you will run out of those people to talk to. You need to have a system that will generate new people for you to approach and they need to see you as someone that is a leader, someone that has the skills to help them become successful.
