Free MLM Training – The Decision
Many years ago a friend of mine (I will call Randy) asked me to come over to his place. He told me he had something to show me and that he wanted me to go for a short drive with him and that we wouldn’t be long. When I arrived at his home he was very excited, perhaps even giddy. I didn’t know what he had going on but I remember thinking to myself that he must have won something. Well he sat me down and gave me this little booklet. It looked official and Randy was talking so fast I had to ask him to slow down a couple times. Well Randy had gotten into an MLM and he was going to make a million and as my good fortune would have it he was going to share his wealth opportunity with me.
We went to a meeting and listened to a middle aged fellow tell me and 20 or so other people how if we put all these circles together in a certain pattern the money would happen so fast we could be selling our homes and moving to the beach within the month. This fellow drove a car that reeked of money and when the meeting was over there were two guys salivating all over that car – Randy and Me.
I paid my start up and the following day I set out to make the world a healthier place. I went door to door and I called all my friends and told them about the money and cars and how we would all be rich and unlike me they wouldn’t buy my pitch and so by the end of the week I realized I was deluding myself. There was no beach in my future unless I wanted to drive to the local lake. I had given up and was resolved to return to mediocrity.
I got exposed to the MLM Industry again 20 years later, after almost losing my wife to Cancer and as a result, we went through a financial cleansing. Any money we had in the bank was gone to bills and we had to give up our new van and the home we had worked so hard to get, (my wife loved that house – it really was her dream home). Fortunately we still had each othere as God chose to heal Pat’s body of the cancer but we had to start over from scratch. It was like being 20 again and owning nothing. When I finally decided to do an MLM I went at it with far more commitment – I made a vow to Pat we would never lose a home again to sickness. When I started marketing I still had my management job so in a way it was like riding a bike with training wheels because if it didn’t work out I could quit and lose nothing more than a few dollars on a credit card. Within 3 years getting involved in MLM, I made my decision, I took the training wheels of and left my job.
Over the years I have seen so many people come into marketing with big dreams and at the first sign of challenge or failure they quit. I found that there is a lot of money to be made in marketing but getting your share is not going to happen without a decision. You have to decide that you are going to do your business no matter what. You have to decide that failure is not an option and you have to decide that you don’t know anything about marketing even if you think you do and then you need to find someone that is successful and ask for coaching. You have to decide to stop telling your coach what you think is right or your coach will shut up and the lessons are over. You have to decide that if you want more then you have to become more.
Everyone wants success but most people are unwilling to do the things successful people do. They often say, “Well when I start making money I’ll invest in it then” or “I will get the advertising when I get my first check” or “I will go to the training conferences when I make my first big check.” All of this “when I get I will….” is failure thinking, it is based on a lack mentality. Whoever became a Doctor and then went to Med. school? Whoever became a Lawyer and then went to Law School? You don’t say to the stove if you give me heat I will give you wood.
Until you decide that you will do whatever it takes you are pedaling that bike with your hand on the brakes. If you want more become more, if you want to change your life then change it. Your success or failure is up to you. The thing that 95% of all people fail to understand is that failure is the normal starting point for everyone. Most people cannot stand looking lousy at something so they avoid it. No one of us could walk at birth but we all have heard of Carl Lewis the athlete. Carl did not just walk out on the track and day one beat everyone. Carl decided what he wanted and what he was not willing to settle for. So if you want success then make the decision. The same opportunity exists for you as the top earner in your company and you both have the same products and comp. plan. I decided 10 years ago to hit the top and now it’s up to you, what’s your decision? Will I see you at the top?
