Every day millions of people in North America head off to work that for many are jobs they don’t like. At coffee break many will congregate in the coffee room and complain about their hours and how difficult their boss is to work with. For those that do not have positions of authority or leadership roles these people can exist invisible to the decisions, vision and viability of its corporate leadership. One of my coaches told me once Chuck to be a leader you must lead and if you want to change your life,  you have to change your life. For many people they feel most comfortable living anonymously and which is the equivalent of winking in the dark and not the grit of leaders.



The challenge for people wanting to break free of this twilight zone work existence and become entrepreneurs designing their own lives is to get out of the comfort zone of being invisible. No longer can the once silent employee remain in the shadows. This new fledgling entrepreneur must now begin to cloak himself in garments of leadership. Being an entrepreneur means not waiting for things to happen but rather to be the agent of change. One of my coaches told me once, “Chuck if you expect your business to be successful, then you have to take an attitude of it’s to be it’s up to me.”



One of the first things that you will be told by the person who introduced you to this new life is that you must create goals and vision statement. You need to know with crystal clarity what it is you expect from your business and to set specific timelines by which to achieve it. An excellent book to read is “Think and Grow” Rich by Napoleon Hill as he covers this topic extremely well. Once you’ve identified what it is you expect your business to provide you then you need to begin to put an action plan together.



I recall my college days with my wife and how stressed she would become when she would get her course syllabus. She would look at all the assignments that had to be done and she would get so upset that it would almost prevent her from moving forward at all. I would say to her honey just focus on one thing at a time and you’ll do fine. Being that we were taking the same courses together made it a little easier and in spite of her initial anxiety at the end of the two-year program she graduated with honors.



Having an outline that identifies what you need to do first, second, third and so on will give you confidence because as you move forward in your business you’re doing so with a series of successes. If there’s something you don’t know then find someone who does. If there are activities that you need coaching with, then simply find someone to show you how to do it. If there’s something you’re afraid to do because you think you might fail-get over it because failing is part of growing and it is necessary fertilizer for your success. Find a person that you can buddy up with and just like with my wife and her assignments and my supporting her, you can tackle your obstacles together and even make it fun when it might otherwise be scary.



At all times focus on where you’re going and not where you are at. Get in the habit of taking responsibility for your success. You no longer have a boss because you have assumed that role. Your sponsor or person that brought you into the business that you’ve chosen is not responsible for your success because that’s your responsibility. It’s like the old expression “I can teach you how to do it but I can’t learn you how to do it” you must learn to own your life. Be a risk taker and don’t be worried about what other people are thinking.



If something is worth doing it is worth doing badly! Give up any notion that you can become great and look good both at the same time. When you become responsible for your success you become free, liberated of the need to blame. When you become responsible you will begin to see opportunities that before never existed. My MLM success strategy for you is that you be the star of your own movie and not an extra. This is not a dress rehearsal and you only get one shot at life. Carpe diem-seize the day!
