
And the Winner is………
I was watching a video from one of my mentors Eric Worre today and he shared how many people have as their best mlm success strategy to treat their business like trying to win the Lotto. It was a really great comparison that I have seen happen over and over again over the years. You share the business opportunity with your prospect and you give them a picture of the kind of money that can be made and they are excited. The new rep dives into some training info and is already counting the windfall of cash that will soon hit the bank account.
I then suggest that the new Reps write out their goals and begin creating a list of people they know and they begin to slow down with some coming to a complete stop. Those that continue often will have 4 or five people they want to have join them and in the event that they reject the business the majority of the fledgling entrepreneurs are calling it quits. The remaining newbie’s are hoping that this will work and they stick it out for the long haul which for most will be 61 days from start to finish.
The small percentage that remain which is typically between 3 – 5% have a more disciplined and committed spirit toward building their business. Now it should be noted that there are many that remain in their given MLM of choice longer but their leaving their MLM usually only lacks the formality of resigning they have moved on within that first 60 days.
I have spoke about the value of goals on many occasions because it is so critical to staying the course with one’s business. Your best mlm success strategy starts with you knowing your reason for building an MLM business and it must be more than just making a lot of money. Michael Cheney recently did a video training series on the value of written goals and he gave credit to Brian Tracy for a achieving goals and that was to write down on paper your top 5 goals and then each morning before you begin your day to write them out and to write them as though you have already completed them.
Michael said that he uses “SMART” Goals:
S = Specific = describe exactly what it is you want
M= Measureable = you need to be able to quantify exactly what you eg. $100,000.00 deposited in your savings account.
A = Achievable = this should not be so easy that you don’t have to strive to accomplish it and yet it must be something that you are capable of achieving
R = Realistic = something that is humanly possible
T= Time = set a specific amount of time to achieve this goal
I love the quote that Michael Cheney gives on success “Success isn’t something won by wondering how; but rather, by working in the wonder of NOW!”
Treat your MLM business like a real business and you increase the chances of your success dramatically. Set up a schedule each week of when you will work your business. Write down the things you need to complete each evening before stop for the night. After you have written down what you are going to complete number them in order of importance. Your employer gave you your job duties when you first started and you got paid each day because you did your job. Ask yourself right now if you are showing up for your business and getting the job done of building your business or would you fire yourself.
