MLM Team Building Success is Determined
By Your Paradigms
Most people have no idea what a paradigm is but that does not change the fact that paradigms rule our success in life. Bob Proctor said that paradigms are similar to the laws of the universe. He cited an example of a baby crawling off a balcony. The baby does not know anything about gravity but the law of gravity states that anything heavier than air is drawn to the center of the earth. From early childhood we are forming paradigms and then living by them.
Over the years I have spoke to so many people that described themselves by the paradigms they believed they were ruled by. I am sure you have heard people say things like “I could sell ice to Eskimos.” or “I am a people person.” or “I am not a people person.” “Or I am not a sales person, I can’t sell.” We all have paradigms that we live our lives by but the question is whether our paradigms serve us or limit us.
Let’s look at the fellow that loses his job and has been unemployed for 6 months and can’t find employment despite his best efforts. He calls into a call center and asks for someone to call him back about a business opportunity. When he is presented with a business that he can afford to get into and has the potential to put him back into a positive cash flow he rejects the venture. He does not say no to the business venture because of a lack of resources to get started. This fellow rejects the business because he believes he is not cut out for sales and marketing. As a result this fellow remains unemployed, he ends up losing his home, his car is repossessed and he puts his family at risk of being homeless.
If he had taken on the business venture on, he may have failed, but he may also have succeeded. It always baffles me how intelligent people choose to do nothing and willingly lose everything than to simply become resourceful and commit to succeeding. Still these paradigms are powerful and can lead a person to total self destruction if unchecked. Most people respond adversely to change and despite how limiting the current situation may be, it is familiar and predictable and just like a moth mindlessly drawn to the light the attraction becomes its’ undoing. The top 5 % of our population challenge their paradigms. They examine them and rewrite any non-serving paradigms right out of their life. They understand that to change one’s life one must change one’s life and so they do.
I would encourage you to examine your paradigms and determine which ones you have that serve you and which ones do not. Develop yourself an action plan to embrace your life and face those things that make you feel uncomfortable. Bob Proctor uses the example of the golfer that changes his grip on the golf club. The new grip feels terrible but amazingly the ball flies down the green landing only a few feet from the cup. The novice golfer could have chose to use the grip he felt the most comfortable with or choose the new one and become a better golfer. There are things that you are doing that feel comfortable but they are not serving and are limiting your MLM team building. So the choice is yours and I know you will make the right one. See you at the top!
