You have gone through your friends and family and they have warned you that if you talk to them about your business again they will have you taken and shot at sundown. I have purchased people’s names and phone numbers for over nine years and I have at times felt that it would have been less painful to get my hand with a hammer and to call some of the people that I had in my list of names. When you first start out in your Network Marketing MLM Home Business it can feel at times like you have a little shovel and you have to move an entire mountain. You wonder to yourself if it is even possible given the massive task that you have at hand. You are overwhelmed with product information do you have to learn, a presentation scripts you have to memorize and be able to speak it so fluently that it sounds like you’re just having a normal conversation. They don’t fail because of their company and they don’t fail because of their product knowledge and they don’t even fail because they were afraid to call their friends and family. They fail because they weren’t committed enough to stay with it. In the example I gave above with owning a restaurant your investment could be anywhere from $50,000-$1 million plus.

We have a sizable investment in something your commitment tends to be much greater than if you only had three or $400 in something. But let’s say for the sake of argument that you got some coaching and even though you’re struggling you have decided that you’re not going to quit no matter what. The next hurdle that you have to deal with is a lack of people to talk to. Mark Joyner wrote an interesting book on how to increase your success in sales called “The Irresistible Offer”. Anyone that has been in sales for a length of time understands that there are very few top salesmen that hit the top income levels by accident. The Network Marketing MLM Home Based Business Leaders have found a formula that they apply daily to their business daily and they repeat this system over and over again. Some of these leaders may not even be aware of what they are doing that carries the most impact on their success what they are doing it just the same.

In his book, Mark speaks of the irresistible offer requiring three components:

1. A high ROI – Return on Investment
2. A Touchstone
3. Believability

Eban Pagan a well-known marketer, copywriter, sales trainer and highly successful entrepreneur talks about moving the free Line. So what does it mean to be “Move The Free Line in marketing? Eban gives away so much free stuff that is of such high value you can’t help but think what he’s giving this stuff away for free imagine what he would be giving me if I was paying for it. Moving the free line is exactly what Mark is talking about when he says a high ROI – it means giving more value to your customer that he is paying for. It is about giving your prospect so much of value that it becomes difficult to say no hence “The Irresistible Offer”.

An example of a Touch Stone (a strong statement of value to the prospect) such as Domino Pizza’s guarantee of getting you a pizza to your door in 30 minutes or it’s free. Another example that Mark gave was that of Columbia House giving a customer 10 CDs for a penny.

The third component of believability will include one or more of the following:

1. Social Proof
2. Technical Proof
3. Factual Proof

Too often Network Marketing MLM Home Based Business newbies confuse features with benefits and then they wonder after they’ve puked all over their prospect for 30 minutes on the wonderful benefits of their company and services or products why the Prospect ran away or said no or let me think about it. I recall living at home with my parents (both whom have gone to be with the Lord) , they always had a garden. Personally I always looked at gardens as a big waste of time. I could go get a bag of peas from the grocer that would have taken me a couple hours to pick and shell not to mention all the time it takes to cultivate, fertilize, water and pull weeds. Gardens just felt like work and I could always think of more productive ways to spend my time.

The same happened in my Network Marketing / MLM Home Based Business with Leads. I started with people I knew and then after about a year I turned to leads to build my MLM. I recall when I joined my first MLM and I was told to create a list of names of people that I would want to have as business partners. I gave it a lot of thought before I wrote any names down because I didn’t want to put the wrong people under me. I knew that once I was promoted to the next level I would be starting over again positioning people under me. The comp plan paid better after I got promoted so I wanted to make sure that I put my best people under me there and then that way they could recruit like crazy and make me rich.

Wow! Were those first 2 years amazing times? I learned that just because someone says they want more from life than an 8 to 5 job doesn’t mean that they are serious about change just because they join a Network Marketing / MLM Home Based Business. Over the past decade I have learned that the quality people will come to you over time though they may not join your organization directly below you. I also learned that the people you thought would tear it up didn’t and the ones you thought would quit became MLM warriors.

I went through a period in my MLM career where I thought if I sponsored people and then gave then to people I thought would get excited and explode their business once they had some success. I learned that was a delusion – if they didn’t want to do the business for themselves then there was nothing I could do for them. I recall calling other peoples’ leads and recruiting while they listened and that worked for a while but there were a bunch that started emailing me their contacts and said they would try to be on the call but they may not be as they had family stuff happening. I found myself with a job and they found a recruiter – they got paid the commissions and I got the frustrations.

I spent hours on the phone doing private one on one coaching trying to help someone get over phone fear only to receive an email saying they quit. Here is my wisdom on building your Network Marketing / MLM Home Based Business – don’t make my mistakes. If the people you sign up don’t want to invest in themselves don’t bother. Work with the ones that call you and avoid the complainers. You are in business for yourself and you really do get to choose who you work with. You are not paid an hourly wage to help those that don’t want to help themselves.

Learn how to recruit and then recruit. Use systems that teach your people how to do it without you investing all of your time with people that could easily learn from a well oiled system. Systems are great because they can work around the clock. You can go enjoy a golf game while a new person in your team is getting orientated. You can focus your efforts on creating more time leveraging activities while your new recruits are learning how to generate leads for their website.

It would be great if we could just go down to the local market and purchased a dozen MLM leaders then find a beach to live on. The reality is that if you want success you’re going to have to recruit for a 3 to 5 years with all out commitment. One acronym that I heard for the word “fear” is false evidence appearing real and when you believe your fear and not your passion you will never realize your true potential. You attend a meeting at a local Hotel and people wearing trendy clothes and have great presentation skills come to the front of the room. A hush forms and the speaker welcomes everyone to the Network Marketing / MLM Home Based Business meeting and compliments them for taking time out of their busy week to attend a meeting when they could be at home with their family. Oh yes there will always be point 0001 % that will say in 12 months how they now drive an Audi TT and they have more money than they can spend but it is more likely that you will find gold in your shower than create a 7 figure income from most MLMs in under 5 years.

This is not to say that there is a problem with the company or it’s products and services but it takes influence and time to build momentum, and skill to create serious income in a short period of time. When some guy says he fell off a banana truck and without getting a high school education he joined this Network Marketing / MLM Home Based Business and is making 6 figures a year after 12 months run from him. Let’s get real, MLM is one of the best ways for the average guy in America to create true wealth but it is not going to happen on its’ own. MLM is simply a distribution method or approach but someone has to distribute.

More people fail in MLM because they are unrealistic in their expectations. Having goals that make you nervous is great and I agree with that, but if you want more in life you have got to become more and you may need to give up some things to get there. You will need to invest in an education. I heard Brian Finale a top leader in MLM say tonight that if you get nervous about spending 50 dollars on a Mike Dillard course go get a job because you don’t have what it takes to be an entrepreneur and I totally agree. If you want more become more. You want people to join your business but ask yourself this, would you join under you. You want success but what are you prepared to offer to the market place for the income you want.

Some companies market services that have high commissions and some that range in the hundreds to the thousands with products that are in high demand. A new person marketing higher ticketed items has a much higher probability to achieve a significant income in a relatively brief period of time than one that pays out 5.00 Residuals. When you are new to the industry with little personal influence or marketing skills expecting to replace a full time income could take significantly longer. This is of course especially true when your commissions are under 50.00 and you are relying on your residual income to accumulate. I believe that if people were given a realistic understanding of what it really takes to succeed in MLM then attrition would be lower and less people would feel they were fleeced out of their money on a get rich quick scheme.

It is not possible for the average person to select 3 people to join their Network Marketing / MLM Home Based Business and then go retire on a beach and collect checks. It is also unlikely that signing up 12 people in 12 months will get you a team of thousands – it could happen and then again you could buy a winning Lotto ticket. People that enter into MLM need to commit to working their business hard for 5 to 7 years and then have some expectation of “living the life”. If all anyone had to do was join an MLM and sign up a few people and then plan for retirement everyone in the world would drive a Lamborghini, live in a Mansion, and have a Villa on the coast of Spain.

Success is possible for those that are willing to do the 4 letter word…… WORK…. And as A.L. Williams said Do It and DO It and DO It and DO it and DO it and DO it until they arrive. Most people fail because of a Lotto mentality. If you want success learn what successful people learned, do successful people do, and think like they do and you will attract what they attract. Above all get rid of the notion that when you see the money you will invest yours. The only reason a farmer gets a harvest is he plants his crop first!

Every day we are inundated with more bad news about the current economic crisis and how thousands are losing their jobs. Many that thought they would have a pension for retirement are being left out in the cold as major corporations file for bankruptcy protection. There was a time when people felt that having a good job was the solution to a secure future. It would seem that everything we have grown up with knowing about financial planning is now in question.

With the high mortality rate among those in the business sector what chance is there for the average person to seriously expect success? Is it possible for someone to get involved in a home based business and succeed? Why would having an MLM be a wise direction when most people have so limited disposable income?

Do you have  control over your boss walking up to you and saying “Sorry, but I am giving you two weeks’ notice. Your services are no longer required.” Answer – None! The sad truth is that this is now happening at epidemic levels. If you have a job now look at it as a funding source to get a business started. You may never need the income from your business to survive on; but, not having this as a backup is like driving your car without a spare.

For those who have recently become unemployed you already know that there are no jobs waiting for you to go to. Unemployment lines are long and employers are looking at downsizing not increasing their numbers. Given the fact that even if your State still has financial reserves to pay you unemployment it will at some point stop. So pretending that everything is ok and that an imaginary job is the solution will result in your ultimate bankruptcy and eventual homelessness.

Question if you lost your job today could you continue to pay your bills for the next 12 months while you wait for the economy to correct it’s self. Oh your spouse still has a job and you feel that though things could get tight you could scrape by. Great! What if your spouse lost his or her job, got sick or injured and could not work,,,,,, what then? Tough times I would imagine.

I recommend you read the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” series Robert Kyosaki has spoken extensively on this topic. There is a huge seductiveness to getting and holding on to a corporate position. It would seem at first blush that acquiring an executive position could leave you feeling like you have arrived. However, in any economic belt tightening corporate positions are often the first to go. To be “really secure” you need to leverage yourself or leverage your money.

If you worked for a company for 12 months at the conclusion of the 12 months how many people would be ultimately responsible for your income? That’s right, just you. Now if you chose to become self employed with an MLM company and you signed up 5 people in a 12 month period how many people would be responsible for your income? Correct again, 6!  Now if we looked at your “job” again how many people would be responsible for your income at the end of the second year? Yep you are bang on, it’s the same number 1. What about your MLM business at the end of the second year if you and the people you signed up only brought in 5 people each and you brought in another 5? That would be 31 and if you extrapolate these numbers over 5 years your MLM you would have close to 4000 people helping you to create an income in your MLM.  If we look at you remaining at your job you would still be reliant entirely on only you to create a pay check for you and your family but with .

Positive Up Negative Down – If you are having a bad day with NetWork Marketing / MLM Home Based Business and we all have them don’t call your team and share your frustrations. When you call your team with your problems, your negative attitude rubs off and it can kill your business almost overnight. If you have a problem that is beating you up then call your sponsor or call someone above them.

Focus Or Fail – Pick a company with a product/s and or Service/s that you feel passionate about. The Chinese have a saying “Tie two birds together and though they have four wings they cannot fly.” Don’t buy into the myth that you can effectively build two businesses and reach the top of your company’s success ladder.  Focus on one business and identify yourself as a leader in that company. Just because you have joined two companies does not mean you will earn twice the amount of money and nothing could be further from the truth. Be the best you can be with your company. A simple science experiment easily demonstrates this law and it is a law – take a magnifying glass and focus it with the sun streaming through to a pin point of light and then move it around see if the paper burns….. now try it with holding the bead of light on one spot…… is it heating up? hmmmmmm

You Have Problems – Get over yourself, we all have problems. Problems are fertilizer in becoming great! There is not one thing man has ever accomplished that was ever noteworthy that was not a problem that needed to be solved. Resistance is what put aircraft in the air and what drives sailboats across the ocean. When you have a problem be grateful the cemetery is full of people that don’t have one single problem and I am quite confident that is not what you want. You can succeed in your business if you buck up decide what you want and then do it until you win. Old cliché’ “winners never quit and losers never win” Check out President Abraham Lincoln’s life story – he certainly was no quitter.

Put Your Prescription Pad Down – If you want to sign up more people and stop ticking people off with your NetWork Marketing / MLM Home Based Business, then stop talking and start listening. Far too many people get started in their MLM and puke all over their prospects about their new business. STOP THAT! A doctor asks a series of questions with the intent of determining your health issues so that he can prescribe the appropriate treatment. He does not immediately whip out his prescription pad and issue you a prescription as he is asking what your health problem is.
