When I was first introduced to this terminology I have to admit I was a little bit intimidated. What the heck are back links and why are they so important?

You Can Buy Your Way to the Top or Earn It

When you choose to use a pay per click campaign you simply put your dollars on the table and Google put your ad on page 1, or close to it. There are some folks that are doing very well with pay per click campaigns; however, I would caution anyone considering this advertising approach to seek the advice of someone experienced in this area. With pay per click sometimes it’s not all about having the right keywords sometimes it’s about making sure you don’t have the wrong ones. So this brings me back to the topic of back links and what are they. When you submit an article to an article directory you would include a link that would take the reader back to the original posting of your document on your blog. The more back links that you have to your blog the more Google looks at you as a credible authority. As your credibility increases so does your rankings on Google.
So what do we mean when we talk about ranking? When you type in a term in a Google search engine Google will come back with a number of pages of what it considers to be relevant content. The more credible you are in the eyes of Google and the other search engines the closer your article or video will be to page 1.

Web 2.0 Does Not Replace Creating Relationships

When you write your leads MLM articles you are generally allowed to include two links one would typically be pointed back to your original document on your blog and the second one to a website of your choosing. Each time you do this your blog gains credibility and your second link can be used to market your affiliate products and services, marketing system or MLM. Someone recently commented that it would be more productive to spend one’s time doing cold calls than to get mixed up in all this Web 2.0 stuff. Without question your network marketing business comes down to one simple thing “real people connecting with real people”. But every network marketer always talks about leveraging oneself through the duplicated efforts of others.

Article marketing can work exactly the same way – you write an article post it to a couple hundred article directories who in turn share it with several hundred other article directories who share it with several hundred other article directories and so on. Your article goes viral taking on a life of its own. So even while you’re sleeping, having a holiday or going for a coffee with a friend, someone, somewhere, is reading your article and going to your website.

You have a great business opportunity and you are great at MLM lead generation yet when you present your opportunity to people they don’t join, now is that frustrating or what? In this article I’m going to give you some ideas on how to increase your sign-up ratio by as high as 50%.

When I first got involved in network marketing I was marketing telecommunication services and we had very competitive prices. In many cases I could offer the people that I knew much lower prices than they were presently paying. Despite this fact, many people that I called were reluctant to use my telecommunication services.

When I presented my business opportunity to people I knew, and showed them the amount of income that they could generate marketing telecommunication services I was surprised to note that only a small percentage were interested. Of the people that did join only a small portion actually went out and presented the business to more than a couple people. This also amazed me given the amount of money that a person could earn if they went out and marketed it.

At the beginning of this article I said that fish don’t bite on Hooks they bite on the Bait, so what do you suppose I meant? Originally I thought that people would want to join a solid business that had a great income potential and if I do a great job at presenting it, they would join with me. As it turned out I was wrong, people are not looking for amazing amazing businesses with great compensation plans.

Maybe some time ago, folks were interested in great businesses and stupendous compensation plans but over the years people have been burned. Somebody has come along and told a prospect how great their company was and how awesome the compensation plan, recruited them and then dropped them as they moved on to find another to enlist.

I have found that people are far more savvy now and they are not as interested in the fact that it company is debt-free with some amazing compensation plan guaranteed to make your eyes pop out. When a person considers getting involved in a network marketing business they are looking for a solution to their problem. Consider for a moment the differences between features and benefits. Features are what your business has but it is the benefits which are individual and unique to each person looking at your business that will grab their attention or not.

Most people look at network marketing with a very skeptical eye simply because they have heard of so many people trying to make an income with a multilevel marketing company and failed as a result of not being successful with MLM lead generation. These folks simply don’t want to be another notch on some recruiter’s belt. They don’t know how to be successful at marketing and they really can’t afford spend the next five years trying to figure it out. People looking at marketing often are looking at it as a resolution to a financial problem.

I was watching a video from one of my mentors Eric Worre today and he shared how many people have as their best mlm success strategy to treat their business like trying to win the Lotto. It was a really great comparison that I have seen happen over and over again over the years. You share the business opportunity with your prospect and you give them a picture of the kind of money that can be made and they are excited. The new rep dives into some training info and is already counting the windfall of cash that will soon hit the bank account.

I then suggest that the new Reps write out their goals and begin creating a list of people they know and they begin to slow down with some coming to a complete stop. Those that continue often will have 4 or five people they want to have join them and in the event that they reject the business the majority of the fledgling entrepreneurs are calling it quits. The remaining newbie’s are hoping that this will work and they stick it out for the long haul which for most will be 61 days from start to finish.

The small percentage that remain which is typically between 3 – 5% have a more disciplined and committed spirit toward building their business. Now it should be noted that there are many that remain in their given MLM of choice longer but their leaving their MLM usually only lacks the formality of resigning they have moved on within that first 60 days.

I have spoke about the value of goals on many occasions because it is so critical to staying the course with one’s business. Your best mlm success strategy starts with you knowing your reason for building an MLM business and it must be more than just making a lot of money. Michael Cheney recently did a video training series on the value of written goals and he gave credit to Brian Tracy for a achieving goals and that was to write down on paper your top 5 goals and then each morning before you begin your day to write them out and to write them as though you have already completed them.

Michael said that he uses “SMART” Goals:
S = Specific = describe exactly what it is you want
M= Measureable = you need to be able to quantify exactly what you eg. $100,000.00 deposited in your savings account.
A = Achievable = this should not be so easy that you don’t have to strive to accomplish it and yet it must be something that you are capable of achieving
R = Realistic = something that is humanly possible
T= Time = set a specific amount of time to achieve this goal

I love the quote that Michael Cheney gives on success “Success isn’t something won by wondering how; but rather, by working in the wonder of NOW!”

Treat your MLM business like a real business and you increase the chances of your success dramatically. Set up a schedule each week of when you will work your business. Write down the things you need to complete each evening before stop for the night. After you have written down what you are going to complete number them in order of importance. Your employer gave you your job duties when you first started and you got paid each day because you did your job. Ask yourself right now if you are showing up for your business and getting the job done of building your business or would you fire yourself.

I have to tell you that without question there is a strategy that exists that is so amazing and takes so much of the tedious repetitive work out of building your business using the Internet I want to share it with you.  Before I do let me tell you a little about what I experienced before I learned about this strategy.

I got into the network marketing industry about 13 years ago and went through all of my friends and family in the first year and hit a wall. I had too few people to talk to about my opportunity and I was determined to generate momentum. So with no people to present my business to on a daily basis I was at a standstill.

• Relatives treated me like I was confused and needed grounding

I wanted more than mediocre success and was watching others wiz ahead of me. Where did these Newbies find all these people to sign up in their business? Then one night I was asked if I had a website to present my business with. I said no and that I would not get one until I started making some money. Each day I would go about my normal activities but some sort of transformation took place within me that others saw that I did not. I was never at ease I was always recruiting. Every person I would chat with became a potential rep for my business.

Over the years I turned more to leads and primarily because I built my business outside of my country. I recall being told that leaders attract leaders and along with them their teams. Calling prospects with no prior experience or success always left me being the mover and shaker amidst the people in my team of people that hoped my pixy dust would rub off on. Most of the people I recruited never recruited anyone and I believe that it was because they didn’t really believe in the industry or products or maybe they had relatives that were harder on them than mine were on me.

I learned the hard way that it is way easier to sign up leaders that have followings that those that are skeptical of those so called “pyramid schemes”. Calling people that are already in the industry and attracting them to your business is by far the best way to build quickly.

Let’s begin with an MLM lead generation reality check. If you don’t like talking to people and you don’t like helping people and you’re afraid to share your MLM business with your friends and your family you are doomed to fail. Network marketing by definition is connecting with others to sell/distribute products and services.

You might think that you can do network marketing using a mouse and a keyboard but you could not be farther from the truth. Network marketing is based on helping people solve their problems. You might have a great video about your business or a really cool squeeze page to capture leads but remember this: it is people that watch your videos and it is people that will enter your squeeze pages and leave you their information.

When you begin your network marketing business you need to come to grips with the reality that if you are ashamed to share your business or you are not sold yourself on your products or services you’re not going to convince anybody else to get them. There’s an old saying that goes like this, “you have to be a product of the product”. You’ll also often hear the term posture thrown around and this is really nothing more than demonstrating confidence in your products and services and in your ability to help others with them.

The error that most people make is they confuse marketing with high-pressure sales. I would define high-pressure sales as applying emotional pressure to get someone to buy something that they don’t need, can’t afford, and never will use. In truth ethical marketing or sales is matching your product or service (solution) with a person’s problem or need.

If you bought a gas station on the corner you would have no problem letting your friends know what you just purchased. You would not demand that they begin purchasing their gasoline from you but rather simply inform them and invite them to pop over. You are able to do this without monetizing your relationship and without putting undue pressure to make all their gasoline purchases from you. Simply inform and encourage them to come over.

In the first three MLM Lead Generation articles in this series I spoke about using local/warm market strategies but today I want to share with you some strategies that you can use over the Internet. The great thing about these approaches and I’m going to share is that they can be done for little or no cost.

Facebook - if you don’t have a Facebook account then I want to encourage you to make this the day you join the ranks of Facebook. This is an excellent forum as it has millions of members and these members each have specific demographics that they have identified in their accounts. With this information you can do a search perhaps join a group and then set out to start making contact with the group’s members. Many people that use Facebook will send out friend requests and then never make any effort to connect with them. This will not be you you’re actually going to reach out and make connections with these people in a meaningful way. In my eight day MLM marketing boot Camp I go into some depth as well as provide you with additional information on how to set up your Facebook account to promote yourself. Think about it millions of people and all you have to do is reach out and be a friend.

Interview leaders - attend conventions that your MLM company has and bring with you your video camera. When you get to the convention identify the top income earners that are present and then set out to interview them with your video camera. This is not a way to generate leads in and of itself however using these videos can generate tremendous credibility to people considering working with you. The fact that you’re interviewing leaders places you at the head of the pack as most people are very reluctant to approach the leaders and here you are interviewing them. This is also an excellent lead-in for our next strategy.

Video marketing - using a very inexpensive camcorder (something in the $200 range) you can create amazing videos that generates tons of traffic to your website and ultimately into your business. Now you may think that you have to be some kind of video whiz kid to make this work but you don’t. Simple video even by an amateur can have a tremendous recruiting effect on your business. I gain this is something that the pack only wish they knew how to do and here you are doing it. Your videos are promoting you and your brand all over the online video world. Videos receive the most traffic on the Internet of any content posted. People love to watch video.

Article marketing – article marketing like video marketing must be done on a consistent basis to be an effective mlm lead generation tool. What article marketing will do is it will brand you and it will push your Google ratings through the roof driving tons of traffic to your website. Now understand this is not a get rich quick approach. Article marketing will take upwards of a year to have any significant results and if you’re not prepared to go the long haul then don’t bother. But if you do choose to use article marketing then you can expect see your articles on the top of Google searches and not have to pay a dime to have them there. People using pay per click spend hundreds and thousands of dollars each month to have their ad sitting next to yours the cost you nothing.
